Lower Back Pain Treatment in Downtown Vancouver: My Experience

I had occasional sharp lower back pain since I was a student. In June, I stood up after crouching to organize my belongings and felt sudden pain so severe that I could barely stand. At the hospital, I was diagnosed with a herniated disc.

I started treatment in Korea, but moved to Canada while sitting was still uncomfortable and walking sometimes hurt. I visited Reverse Pain in Downtown Vancouver to continue treatment for my lower back pain.

My First Appointment for Lower Back Pain

The practitioner asked about my stress and assessed how my body was moving, including which areas felt weaker or were not working as well as they should.

Based on the assessment, the treatment was adjusted to focus on the areas that needed the most support.

I was afraid of needles, so I told the practitioner. My sessions involved manual therapy, breathing, and guided movements instead.

What I Practised at Home

I was given videos of movements selected for me to practise at home. They included sitting down and standing up, hinging at the hips, and paying attention to how I used my hips while walking.

Having specific movements to work on helped me stay more aware of my posture and movement habits between appointments.

Where I Am Now

I went about once a week for a month. My back felt sore after some early appointments, but around the third week, it began to feel lighter. I still have uncomfortable days, but I am continuing treatment.

What helped me most was having a treatment plan that matched what I was comfortable with and gave me specific movements to work on outside the clinic. My recovery is still ongoing, but I feel more aware of how I move and what can affect my lower back symptoms.

This is my personal experience. If you’re looking for lower back pain treatment in Downtown Vancouver, you can discuss your symptoms and concerns about needles with the practitioner at Reverse Pain. Your assessment and treatment plan may be different from mine.
